Derby fun

Even though we didn't really do anything for Derby day, but watch the races on tv, we did have fun the week before. Brayden had a field trip downtown to the Fest-i-ville for the production of Charlie Brown. It may have rained, but we had fun anyways! Also, on Thursday, Michael, Brayden, and I made the trip downtown for the Pegasus Parade. It was Brayden and Michael's first time ever, and I hadn't been since I was about Brayden's age. We had so much fun! Brayden was so excited to see everything, including his favorite clown from the Kosair Shriner's Circus, Boo-Boo, and he really loved the marching bands. He has decided that he is going to play drums in a marching band when he gets bigger!
After the parade, we went downtown to the chow wagon and let B ride some rides and we checked out some booths before heading home for the night. It was a really fun day and hope that we have a lot more fun filled days with summer right around the corner!

More fun with Brayden

Wow, it seems like the only time I get on here to blog, is to report bad news with Brayden. I am going to make a conscious effort to blog this year (among other things). We just found out Friday that Brayden has a blood disorder (which the Dr. did not tell us what it is), so we will have to go see a hematologist (blood specialist) as soon as our doctors refer us. This has contributed to Brayden's nose bleeds which he has had for the past 2-3 years. The main concern I have is that he is already border-line anemic, so he bleeds more than a normal person, AND he's more susceptible to bleed. Oh yay....
Other than a few health issues, he is doing amazing in school. He is reading on a first grade level, and isn't finished with kindergarten yet! He has been on the Principal's list all year for straight A's. Even though it's hard at times to be with him as much as I want, with us both being in school, he never ceases to amaze me. He is also doing wonderful on the drums! Michael can play any song on the guitar, and Brayden will listen for a minute, and then start playing along! He's a trip!!

Wow, it's been quite some time since I made my first post. If I wasn't so scatter brained I probably wouldn't have lost my log in information so I would have been able to get on sooner. Well, it now mid-July and Brayden is getting more and more excited about starting school in August. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get. It just seems so hard to imagine sending my little man off into the world by his self (I know moms do it everyday, but this is big for me; I saw Walmart putting up the school supplies and teared up).

Thursday is our appointment for Brayden to get his EKG done and for us to meet with the cardiologist. I am super nervous about the appointment, but I did read online that Brayden's anemia can cause a heart murmur to become worse. As long as it's not too bad, medicine is the answer; but the way that my mind works, I'm already thinking, "Oh God, what if he has to have surgery?"

La La Land

I am new to this whole blog thing, but I have several friends who do this, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I am 25 yrs old and I have a 5 yr old son, Brayden, who has more energy than the Energizer Bunny. He does keep going and going and when he finally crashes, so do I. I have been with Brayden's dad, Michael, for 8 yrs now and we currently live with Michael's grandfather.

I actually got the name for my blog because of B. Once I finally get home from work and we sit down to eat supper, I tend to drift off in my own little world while Granddad and Michael are talking sports. Brayden will snap me out of it and ask,"Mom, we're you in that la la land again??".
